We serve wholesome, homemade meals and snacks daily. If you have any dietary needs or allergies, please let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.
Severe allergies (e.g. nuts, shellfish) must be communicated in advance and again at check-in. While we do our best, cross-contamination is always a risk.
For highly specific diets, we suggest bringing a few personal essentials (like gluten-free items). Our team is happy to prepare them for you.
Pack sturdy walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a backpack to carry water, lunch, and a pair of extra shoes and socks. In summer months, pack your swimwear and towel too, there are refreshing spots to immerse yourself in nature’s embrace.
Our terms and conditions require guests to have adequate and appropriate medical cover and/or travel insurance that covers all personal requirements, including partial or full cancellation and curtailment charges, medical expenses, baggage, and repatriation in case of accidents, personal accidents, injuries, illnesses, evacuations, or any other reason. We won’t be liable for any losses resulting from the absence of insurance cover.
Our Camino journeys are designed for small groups of 10 to 12 hikers, striking the perfect balance between camaraderie and personal space. You’re welcome to book as a private group or join individually. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
While our typical age range is 18 to 70, this is simply a guideline. If you’re healthy, active, and up for the adventure, you’re more than welcome regardless of age.
The trail is rated moderate in difficulty. If you’re accustomed to regular walking, this route will be comfortably within your reach. You won’t encounter any sharp cliffs, technical sections, or need for specialised gear. Simply bring your walking shoes.
Our guides handle all essential communication, so there’s no need for a phone on the trail unless it’s for snapping photos. To keep the experience peaceful for everyone, we ask that phones stay on airplane mode while walking.
Our routes cross protected SANParks areas and private properties, where animals and drones are strictly prohibited to preserve the natural environment. Feel free to bring along your camera or GoPro to document your journey.
Some hikers love the extra support of a walking stick, while others prefer to go without.
Blisters can ruin a good walk. Avoid them by wearing well-worn in shoes and quality hiking socks, preferably wool. Trim your toenails before you start and choose footwear that suits the terrain and your style.
Come rain or shine, the camino goes on. We walk in all conditions, unless safety is at risk.
Only in extreme circumstances, when conditions become unsafe, will we shorten the camino. It’s always a good idea to pack a good book and journal, just in case!
Tips aren’t expected but always appreciated. If you’d like to contribute, we usually gather gratuities on the final day to share with the full team.
Walking trails are strictly non-smoking, designated areas at the Portland Manor are available for smokers.
